Member

Member profiles can be tied to a Scholars@Duke profile. With this option, changes made in Scholars are automatically propagated to the website. 

Typically, faculty member profiles are setup to sync with Scholars@Duke via a feed at the time the site is created. 

Edit a Scholars@Duke Member

There are a few fields that are unique to your site and can be updated without being overwritten by the Scholars@Duke feed. These fields include:

  • Title Override
  • Member Type*
  • Status*
  • Other

Member profiles can be added manually. There are a lot of data input fields - each one is mapped to a field from Scholars@Duke.

  1. Select Member from the list of content types
  2. Enter a Full Name (node Title)* - the name entered in the Full Name field will appear at the top of the member's individual profile
  3. Enter a Picture or head shot of the member. If a picture is not added, the placeholder silhouette is used as default image
  4. Enter First Name of the member - used for sorting members in views
  5. Enter Middle Initial - used for sorting members in views
  6. Enter Last Name - used for sorting members in views 
  7. Member Title is the equivalent to job titled
  8. Title Override can be used to override a title pulled from Scholars
  9. Select the Member Type - this is a taxonomy term and used for grouping member profiles in summary views
  10. The default Status is Active. When a member has left the lab, the status can be changed to Alumni. This tag is used to determine whether or not the member's profile is displayed in active vs alumni views.
  11. Overview is a summary of the member's work
  12. Appointments and Affiliations are entered one per row; click 'add another item' to add an additional row
  13. Office Location
  14. Office Phone
  15. Email Address Text
  16. Websites are entered one per row; click 'add another item' to add an additional row
  17. Education or degrees are entered one per row; click 'add another item' to add an additional row
  18. Research Interests uses a rich text field 
  19. Awards & Honors are entered one per row; click 'add another item' to add an additional row
  20. Patents uses a rich text field
  21. Courses Taught are entered one per row; click 'add another item' to add an additional row
  22. In the News is added by adding the URL and Link text (i.e., title of news article) for each news article – entered one per row; click 'add another item' to add an additional news item
  23. Recent Publications uses a rich text field
  24. Publications uses a rich text field
  25. Any text enter in the Other field will be displayed at the bottom of the member's profile with a heading that reads, "Additional Information"
  26. Click Save
